PrEP 2018

What an exciting and busy couple of days. Our PrEP groups are now busy making products to sell for the Market Days. Some of the products we are making in T3 are tin can lanterns, fishing games, mancala and pencil holders. Each day the students earn 8 Kiwi's for working and can spend the money at market days.

Assembly Term 3 Week 7

Art Soiree

Art Soiree

Coming up next week is our Art Soiree, in Totara we have been busy tie-dying tee-shirts as our entries. We looked at many different designs that we could try and so far most people have chosen to make a spiral design. We think they are looking pretty amazing. These wonderful tee-shirts will be up for auction next week!

Worm Farm

A group of students in Totara 3 decided to make their own worm farm, here is a video of them making the worm farm.
There was a lot of research that went on before creating the worm farm, the group also collects food scraps from 3 classes in the school to feed the 'tiger worms'. To show the classes what foods the worms can and cannot eat they made posters to share with those classes and also talked to the classes about it. Hopefully we will soon have worm tea to add to our garden!

Week 2!!

In Totara 3 we have been working on lots of different garden activities. We have been planting a range of vegetables that we will grow and sell, we have also set up a hydroponics system that will be growing strawberries very soon, there is also another group that has focused on non-chemical forms of pest control and there will also be a group of children who are going to be building planter boxes.

Self-Respect in Totara 3

Last week in class we talked about self-respect and how we show it to others. We decided that looking after our belongings, labeling clothes, having confidence, using manners and standing up for our-self and others shows self-respect. To show our ideas to others we made a short video.

Book Character Day

Wow, some amazing costumes today at our Book Character Assembly. So great to see so many student's get into the spirit of Book Character Day and dress up as a character from a book. Here are Totara 3 student's in their costumes.

Book Week... Door Display, yay!

What a fun week so far for Book Week, during the week all the classes have been working on their Door Display. The class need to choose a book and then decorate one of their classroom doors around that theme. In Totara 3 we chose 'The Jungle Book' and here are a couple of photos of our finished product.

We made the vines from an old duvet cover which we cut up and plaited, then added the leaves and the monkeys to them. All the leaves and characters were drawn, decorated, cut out by the students.
